21days n°1 - Affirmations

Disclaimer: I know I've already mentioned affirmations&co as "tools" to have, anyway I don't believe, again I DO NOT BELIEVE, that the universe (I've said universe) has laws for me, or it's working itself on my behalf. What I believe in is human mind potential, therefore all these tools are useful to reshape thoughts and ideas. Let's say I've already told you what I understood about them, now let's put them to practice!
On with the test!

In July I bought, second hand on Amazon, "Change -almos- anything in 21 days".
I admit it, it was that "almost" that attracted me, a flash of honesty in a bunch of books promising you, literally, the universe.

The book is pretty short, for the most part it's a collection of affirmations (more than 500) in the second part of the book. The first part explains in detail how to write good affirmations and why you have to write them 21 times a day for 21 days.
I liked how it highlighted often that - other than writing something possible (emphasys on possible) - you need to act to obtain what you want.
Affirmations aren't magical words of spells, they don't "make things happen".
I had already tried affirmations, but not on a daily basis, and not written.

Ok, I guess you want to know what I wrote... I was looking for a job, not a lifetime job, but one that suited me now: three days later I started working where I'm working now, but I had no idea what to look for and how to look for it, so I kept writing, I have been a good girl and I wrote everyday for 21 days. In the meanwhile I had other job interviews, I kept searching and taking each chance I got.

The verdict is 50/50, maybe it was me, I didn't believe in it enough (to be honest while writing I was often thinking about grocery shopping, furniture making and books I was reading, but anyway), maybe the super-events told in the book were a bit polished up. But anyhow, even though I know I'll never be scientifically sure affirmations helped, I had an happy ending.

Writing a sentence 21 times takes a little more than 5 minutes, and you can forget about it for the rest of the day. So you practice focus, five minutes a day you think about what you would like to have, then trying this and that and not-that, you get more clear on what you wnat. So, it wasn't ray of lights and heavenly choirs at the end of the 21st day, but I cleared up my mind pretty quickly, it was all anxiety-free, I learned to spot chances and take them, and to be bronze-faced enough to ask for what I want.
I like my job, the time-schedule now is good (it was enough to ask!), I have a lot of free time, a fairish paycheck, I learn a lot and it will be a good experience to have on my resume (I'm still looking for other jobs ;) )... doesn't all of this make a perfect job for me now? ;)

What do you think? Do you know the book? Do you write affirmations? Am I going nuts? Tell me.

21gg n°1 - Affermazioni

A luglio ho comprato, usato su Amazon, "Change -almost- anything in 21 days" ovvero "Cambia -quasi- tutto in 21 giorni"

It's this time of the week again! List stuff you loved from the past week, I can assure you that in time you'll learn to notice and cherish small things in life, instead of only focusing on the heavy and boring and bad.
It works, I promise! Try it out ;)

° going home with Mr. Faun, who, by the way, comes to pick me up even if he has to cross a couple of regions
° a friday with normal time schedules
° spending saturday mounting furniture... and check on our work each thirty seconds giving kudos to ourselves
° chinese food
° the end of a couple of tv series... we have time for new ones!!!

° being able to enjoy moments
° driving through a street lined with trees, under a sprinkle of golden leaves and think "woooooooooooooow wonderful!" instead of "blah... autumn"

° inspiring role-modelsfound into famous people
° spend a lot of time with Mr.Faun (every evening!)
° a tough week, spent chasing time... but it's gone!

What's in my bag - DIY edition

It has been a rough and tough week, so I want to start this one (even though monday is almost gone) with something frivolous.
So I've decided to jump on this wagon and show you what I carry with me, but most of all, to show off a bag I've sewn myself this august.
That's why "diy edition".

The front, the lining, the pockets and the shoulder strap are upcycled from an old bag I had and liked but didn't use anymore (it was some kind of backpack, not very handy), the back comes from and old tshirt I loved but couldn't wear anymore, and the button -so it seems- comes from a veeeeery old coat my mom once had.

And here's the usual stuff, in the pencilcase I carry bobbypins, bandaids and small stuff I don't want to lose into the bag, then some pretty boring stuff, like pen, diary, phone (I say it's a little remote), something quirky may be soap bubbles (the small yellow bottle you almost can't see, in the low right corner) and violet candies in the tin box with an hydrocephalus Tigger, an army knife (it's so useful in so many situations!) and I definately need a new wallet, I'm tired of carrying one for coins, one for cards (at least four from bookstores, if not more) and one for money and documents (even though I'll miss mister Jack).

Any suggestion? Something light please, it's monday ;)

What's in my bag - versione fai da te

Suggerimenti? Leggeri prego, che è lunedì ;)

21 days challenges - superhero testlady

img

Hello hello hello my dearest mused beings!
This post comes a little unusually late (due also to weird working schedules, lost trains and tickets... but do I let it beat me down? absolutely not!), but I'm really excited, I've been thinking about this for a while, and it's more in line with the spirit of this blog itself than ever.

I've re-written everything at least three times, I'm trying to keep it short while telling you all about. So I thought: bulletpoints! Hoping it will be lighter and faster to read.

1) I decided to follow my own advice and challenge myself
2) I decided I have to cross all those "to-do-lists"stuff off
3) I decided to turn to new, healthier, habits
4) I decided that each mission will be a 21 days challenge, to be able to review it throughly, and not only with a glance

There's no blog, website, guru, book, audio-book, dvd, mp3, podcast, ebook, tv show, coach, trainer and spiritual guide that can do the trick on you, if YOU do NOT want to change.
It may be a perfect excuse for all those new-agey remedies, but it's and undoubtable psychological truth.

When?
Each challenge, for 21 days
Why?
Because apparently in 21 days you have created a new habit, or at least a new habit started replacing an old one, and is reasonably short time but enough to try something out very well.
What?
I have a pretty long list of things I'd like to try out and books to put in practice, and actually I have already started, but I'll dish 'em out as surprises to you.
How?
I'll pick one and I'll do it, then I'll review it on the blog. I do realize however that there are things that won't last 21 days, some more, some (a lot) less, anyway I'll be your test-lady and in the meanwhile I'll keep up with the "usual" posts ;) But I'm committing to really be my own superhero.

Who's with me?

Come?

Chi è con me?

Universe and Shakespeare

Take eight minutes of your time to watch this video and picture, really watch it, they always leave me with a marvellous sense of wonder.

Also, this pic is awesome, I found it thanks to a tweet by Monoxious.

click on it to see it bigger
They make you feel teensytiny and immense at the same time. Maybe Shakespeare was right when he said that we are such stuff as dreams are made on.

Universo e Shakespeare

Fanno sentire allo stesso tempo minuscoli e immensi.

(so che poi me ne pentirò, ma ora va così)
